André Picard

André Picard (@picardonhealth) is widely recognized as the dean of Canadian health journalists. 
He is the health columnist at The Globe and Mail, where he has been a staff writer since 1987. 
He is also the author of four bestselling books. André has received much acclaim for his writing. 
He is an eight-time nominee for the National Newspaper Awards, Canada's top journalism prize, and past winner of prestigious Michener Award for Meritorious Public Service Journalism, and the Hyman Solomon Prize for Public Policy Journalism. 


André has also been honoured for his dedication to improving healthcare by a number of consumer groups. He was named Canada's first "Public Health Hero" by the Canadian Public Health Association and as a "Champion of Mental Health" by the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health.


André is a graduate of the University of Ottawa (BComm) and Carleton University (BJournalism) and holds honorary doctorates from the University of Manitoba, Laurentian University and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.


He lives in Montréal.
