Karen Pierre

Karen Pierre is a clinical social worker for the Trauma Program at the London Health Sciences Centre, in London, Ontario, specializing in crisis intervention and counseling for grief and bereavement. She assesses the emotional/psychological impacts on victims and witnesses to violent events, including shootings, stabbings, motor vehicle crashes, serious workplace injuries and domestic violence.

She is a consultant to the Canadian Military Family Resources Centre, where she assesses soldiers and their families before overseas deployment and assesses military personnel who present with PTSD symptoms on their return. She has also worked with the Children’s Aid Society and with police on the emotional trauma aspects of sexual and physical abuse cases. Karen is a member of The Trauma Association of Canada's "International Issues and Disaster Committee."
